PCGS Price guide not current

I was scanning over the PCGS price guide for 2008-W buffalos and noticed that according to their guide, a 1 ounce 08-W buff that has been graded MS69 should sell for around $1550.

Now usually, they are several hundred dollars higher than greysheet, so I thought I'd check greysheet and see what they said a 69 should sell for.
On greysheet the same coin lists for $2000.

And sure enough, a quick scan of Ebay has this certain coin selling in the $2200 to $2300 range.

Now this is just something I noticed about the 08-W buffalo. Does anyone know if they are this out of touch with other coins in the marketplace?

I always thought they updated their lists fairly frequently.

Re: PCGS Price guide not current

I found a 1964 Kennedy Half Accented Hair in PCGS PF65 DCAM for $105.
PCGS price guide is $1150, but Numismedia (which I believe is NGC's price guide) lists it for $432.
How could there be such a large gap in market value?
I wonder what greysheet shows on this coin.

BTW should I buy the coin for $105?

I called and asked Rick Tomaska about the coin.
He recommended buying it.
He said it would trade dealer to dealer for $300 - $400.

Takes a few weeks and the PCGS in then OK.

The usually run in front with the SAINTS because of the gold investment authorization dealie - HOWEVER - the modern mint stuff is strange because the since a few years ago - the ENTIRE US Mint is SO darn FLAKY in not doing what they are supposed to do by law. That the NUMI dealers are trying to gain the upper hand to FLEESE (take unfair advantage ON) the dummies that play JOHNNIE come LATELY!

GO FIGURE.

Like in the movie BABE, "That's just the way (the crooks) it is, BABE!"

(HS note:The Smart ones make a KILLING and they EAT the PIGS!)
:36_3_12::111:

By the way the SAINTS are way way way behind the SPOT right now - there will be a KNEE JERK reaction soon.

Expect all GOLD to shoot way up quickly - we'll see $1100 tomorrow IF & when US dollar (might) breaks below the current paper plastered price by the Wizard of OZ read Washington, D.C.

That's what I thought at first, that's why I waited a couple of months before posting this. PCGS has kept that same price for that same coin for the last 2 months(that I know of).

Which tells me, that their data is not as complete as say the greysheet is. They don't have as much sales information to compile, so they simply don't know what certain coins are selling for in the real world.

I'm just saying we should all check multiple sources OR greysheet for an honest appraisal of a coin.
